Easter

When I was a kid Easter meant church, the evil easter egg hunt,bunny cakes and snow. What do I mean by the evil easter egg hunt. Well I am the fifth kid out of six. And when I was growing up my two older brothers would hide the eggs. We used to use real eggs till Chris forgot how many he hide and where they were. A couple months later my mom moved the dining room table and found a rotten egg after that it was plastic. They would hide them all over in spots normal ten year old would never look. Now that I am adult with a 17 month daughter and another one on the way. We have been deciding on how to mix both families' traditions. Emme is too young to decorate bunny cakes or dye eggs and thank goodness there was no snow. We went with only Matt's side this year. (Maybe next year we will make cakes and take them with us) There is a brunch at Matt's cousin Marnie's. She always goes up and beyond yumminess. Then there is the Easter egg hunt. Each kid get six prize eggs in their own color, and one gold egg. The rest of the eggs are filled with candy. One at a time the kids get let out into the yard youngest first. It was so cute to watch these kids running around and staying away from where Emme was so she could find eggs too. It was really nice how her prizes were different then the older kids. She had so much fun picking up the eggs and putting them in the basket. She only needed to be shown once. And it was nice for her daddy to be involved before he had to dash off to work.

She got a feel it book, a stuffed duckie, a little people farm animals, bubble wand, and three dollars from her gold egg which went in her piggy bank. She had so much fun finding the eggs she got upset when it was time to go inside. Next year will be interesting with Emme and Olivia

Spring photos

It is spring, well sort of. It has snowed or rained off and on. So on a actual nice sunny day we decided to go up to Temple Square and take pictures of Emme in her Easter dress. Emme loves flowers. What she doesn't like is her shoes and socks. She takes them off quickly as they are put on. She loved walking around. She really loved the reflecting pond and thought it was a swimming pool. She tried to crawl in it. Thank goodness Daddy stopped her and just let her splash instead. She loved Daddy entertaining her to get her to smile.

A Day at Wheeler Farm

Since today was the first day that it had been nice and Matt was off. We decided to take Emme to Wheeler Farm. It is this cute state park with old pioneer buildings and animals. Emme had more fun seeing the animals. She tried to pet them all.

Preparing for Olivia

When we found out we were having another girl we were so excited. We decided that we need to begin working on our back room. For anyone who has seen this room you know how much work this would be. When we moved into our home, this room had one wall covered in unfinished wood planks. The seams in the walls and ceiling were unfinished. There were hooks everywhere in the walls and ceilings. Matt's brother Travis spent several hours removing all the wood planks when we moved in. (So he could tell you what a disaster it was) So when we decided to make it the baby's room, it was a huge project. But with help from Matt's parents we have turned into a cute room for our little girl. We decided to go with a color scheme rather than a theme. We decided on pale pink and lime green.

We still have a few things to put in. We are putting a quilt above her crib (Matt's mom is making) and probably a couple things we haven't decided on yet.

Time for Bed

Emme has discovered books. She loves to just look at the pictures and even pretends to read. She will carry books around the house for us to read to her. When it comes to bed time or nap time though reading to her is not a good idea. As she will just keep handing you books to read. She will get out of bed and go get more just so she doesn't have to sleep. So since we read through out the day at bed time and nap time she get to look at her books on her own. So she will go to sleep. She will get more and more books till her bed is full. So when I go to check on her this is usually what I find.

16 Months Old

I can't believe Emme is sixteen months old. When we have her sister she will be eighteen months. She is walking now. Her hair is finally long enough I can do something with it. She talks a lot but doesn't speak much English. She can say thank you, Bella (her grandparents dog) Ruff Ruff which means dog. She loves books. She hands me and her daddy books she wants read over and over. She will sit and look at the pictures on her own. She takes books to bed with her. When I check on her she will have half her library in her bed. She loves to sing and sings along in church and to the radio. She have fallen in love with Sesame Street. She loves Cookie Monster and Big Bird. She loves when they sing. She is getting so big.

Vegas Part Two

When we were walking along the strip we spotted Elvis. He was the best of the street performers. We saw Batman, Cat woman, Spider man, some creep guy in gold, and a ice cream cone. Elvis was my favorite. So Matt made me get a photo with him. He sung to me and kept kissing my cheek. Love him. When he dropped the act he had the thickest Russian accent
Being a chocolate addict we had to visit the M&M world. Matt and his parents were excited about the Coke store which is next door. But for me it was the store filled with chocolate. Four floors of chocolate and M&M themed products.
Emme loves animals. She was so excited to see the lions at the MGM. You could walk under the habitat and see them. The trainers brought them all over the encloser so we could see them. They even had cubs in a different section, but you couldn't take pictures of them, unless you paid. Emme loved watching the lions but loved the cubs the most.

The gardens at Bellagio. They do different themes through out the year. It was Chinese New Year. It was beautiful. The whole hotel was decorated in red lanterns and huge flower arrangements. I told Matt when we went in that our sister in law Erin would love it.

We had a lot of fun in Vegas. But we were so happy to get home. The drive was around six hours on the way back. Emme was extremely grumpy which is abnormal. She threw up twice. We had to pull over to clean her and the car up. While we driving I called our doctor to make an appt for when we get home. Emme got a little present from our time in Vegas was a double ear infection and ten days of antibiotics.
