New Shoes
Today has been one of those cold windy day, that requires Hot chocolate and a good book. Sadly though Emme's feet have grown again. She has been complaining that her shoes hurt. She would even sit down in the middle of the store, remove her shoes and point to her feet proclaiming "Ouchy". So today I decided to brave the chill and go to walmart. My Mom gave her some money for her birthday to get new shoes. When we got to the shoes section I began looking for a foot measure. I finally asked the woman in the section. She went in the back and returned with an old one. She began measuring Emme's foot. I am so glad I was paying attention and did not take her word on the size. Because the woman was looking at the inches and not the sizes. She quickly proclaimed that Emme's foot was size 5. This was interesting since Emme has been wearing a size six since April. I thanked the woman and went to find some size seven shoes. My Dad was in Retail growing up. He worked for Jc Penney's (Back when the store was nice) He was in charge of the shoe department, so we all learned how to size and fit a shoe. So I found a pair of tennis shoes, church shoes, and a pair of princess slip on that Emme was thrilled by. When I asked the same woman if they had a pair of glitter shoes in the back in size seven. She reminded me Emme was a five. I was trying to be polite. She was being pretty nasty about it. There wasn't much on the shelves. So I decided maybe try some snow boots. She told me that they only have two kinds right now and none in size five. I had to take a deep breath and walk on. The snow boots were ugly and didn't look like they would last. So with the rest of the money I got a couple puzzles for Emme to play with at the table while I make dinner. So the moral of the story make sure you measure your own kids feet or you will end up with two sizes two small.
That is funny! I almost wish you had said something about her feet shrinking from a size 6 to a size 5!
