4th of July

I love the fourth of July.  I love the history around the holiday.  I love genealogy and history.  I have several ancestors that fought on both sides of the Revolutionary War.  I don't remember doing much in Alaska for the fourth other then working.  We did a bbq sometimes.  But fireworks in a state where midnight is as light as noon it is a little hard.  Here in Utah they celebrate the fourth pretty much all week.  Each town does it's town days during the month of July.  They have a parade, rodeo, carnival,  and other fun.  Matt's work schedule this year he wouldn't be home during the parade and the fourth fun.  So we celebrate on the second with our traditional bbq and fireworks with Matt's parents.  The kids were super excited to have their grandparents over.  They adore them so.  We had hamburgers, watermelon, corn on cob (which was terrible I will never buy it from Walmart again) baked beans with kielbasa in it. I love baked beans.   Matt's mom brought cupcakes for dessert.  After dinner we sat around and talked till it was dark.  Livi curled up next to her grandpa to play a game on the kindle.  When it was dark enough we did sparklers and fire works.  Alex loved the fireworks.  He thought they were funny.  Especially the snaps.  Our poor dog spent the whole time in Karen's lap.  The girls I think had more fun giving the fireworks to Daddy to set off.  Grandpa couldn't get the fuses out fast enough.

The fourth of July the girls asked me all day when it was time to go to Marnie's (Matt's cousin)  After Daddy headed to work and a couple quick pictures of their outfits we headed off to Marnie's.  The girls were so thrilled.  They played on the trampoline and played on the swings.  Emme insisted on pushing Stockton on the swing.  The food was yummy as always.  They had sparklers for the kids.  Which was Emme, Livi, Stockton and Aspen.  Stockton and Aspen are really teenagers but they play with our kids.  Poor Emme didn't realize that if she touched to tip even after it went out it would still be hot.  So she burned her thumb.  She cried till she realized she could play in the ice without getting in trouble.  (She is all better now) Livi loved having a sparklers in each hand and was dancing around.   Alex was loving the snaps and the fireworks.  He got passed around which he loved.  He loves having Grandma hold him or Troy tickle  him.  We did fireworks after ice cream.  We got home around 10pm. After I put Alex to bed me and the girls sat out on the front steps and watched the fireworks and watch the stars.  Emme said the moon followed us home because he loves us.  She loved seeing all the stars.    Emme told me today was the best day ever.
