Glamping we will go.

We have been discussing even before the kids were born the many memories we wanted our family to have.  Going to the park, zoo, Disneyland, spending time with family.  One of my big ones was camping and the love of the outdoors.  Growing up in the frozen north.  All of kids learned how to fish, build a fire and camp in tents.   I really wanted to go camping, as I haven't been in years.  Of course camping with a infant can be tricky.  So we stole Matt's parents trailer and headed to Deercreek.  We didn't really steal it as borrowing as they drove it up and helped set it up.   The girls loved it.  We brought games, movies and scavenger hunt for them to do.  We went on several walks around the camp ground so the girls could the things on their list.  (Stuff like smooth rock, rough rock, feather, wild flowers etc)  The first night after it got dark our plan was to make smores.  Personally I don't like marshmallows, but the kids do and were super excited by it.  It looked like it was going to storm so we decided to do it early.  I told Matt I would make the fire while he got the kids into pjs.  He challenged my fire making skills.  "I was a boy scout we make fire you were a girl scout you sell cookies"  Honestly I was never good at selling the cookies, I wish I could have been a boy scout, it would have been more fun.  After I got the fire built he had to admit I knew what I was doing.  I think Emme had more fun burning the marshmallows rather then eating them.  Livi liked the chocolate in the smores.  Maybe we aren't smore people.   Right after we were done it began to pour.  There was wind, thunder and lightening.  We were all tucked in the trailor with popcorn watching a movie.
Our second day we went to Bridal falls.  You walk down a paved trail till you reach the bottom of the falls.  It has several nice pools you can play in.  The water was cold but we all have fun getting in splashing around, except Alex.  We went back to the trailer the kids had fun playing in the dirt as I made lunch.  About this time I started to feel the beginnings of the cold everyone had last week that we had hoped past me by since I had just been sick a couple weeks ago.  Camping and being sick not fun.  After I took a nap while Matt watched the kids we went for a small hike down to the lake.  The girls loved throwing rocks and Alex tried eating them.   For dinner that night we planned to eat salmon.  Emme hates fish while Livi loves it.  While I was removing the bones from the fish Emme asked me if I was killing the fish.  I replied no that Grandpa had killed the fish long ago and that I was only removing the bones so I could cook it.  "Mommy you should kill fish it is not nice and grandpa shouldn't kill anything."  Then she asked if we were having chicken for dinner because she likes chicken.
Sleeping wasn't much fun.  Poor Alex is like me when it comes to sleeping outside of his bed.  I never can sleep well when I am not in my own bed.  Matt can sleep anywhere and so can the girls.  Alex refused to nap both days, and at night he would wake up several times at night screaming.  Livi would wake up in tears and Emme slept through it.  I would get up to rock him back to sleep as I sung and half hummed the primary songs I could remember.  The first night this did the trick he would curl up on me and go to sleep.  His little hands he would dig under my shirt till he could feel my skin.  Sadly our last night when I was feeling so ill and tired he refused to be soothed.  He just wanted to cry.  So I let him.  I honestly tried everything before I got to that point but sometimes they just want to cry.  After a good 30 minutes he curled up into a ball on top of his blanket and went to sleep.  He slept till 9am while Livi crawled into bed with me about 7am tell Daddy to get out and so she could cuddle with Mommy.  That little can be super cute some time.
Our plan was to go boating with Matt's parents on our last day at Deer Creek.  However both his parents had gotten this lovely cold too.  So we decided to go out to lunch in Heber and head home.  We had fun but it was nice to be home again.
